Virgin 
Virgin started as an English distribution company. They started to import the 
German Krautrock albums. Later they started to release albums thereselves. One 
of the first bands they "bought" were Tangerine Dream and Faust. They were (and 
are) both German bands. 
The Releases
We are only going to review the releases with the "Virgin" design. The first 
design was a design with two virgins with a great lizard (or dragon). This 
design has been created by Roger Dean. 
The 500-series and early 2000-series were released in the black and white 
design. Probably as early as late 1973 they started with the coloured design. 
But it wasn't long after the first releases, hence all "early" albums would be 
later pressed on the coloured label. 
However the VC 500 ("Virgin Cheapo"?) series (these sold for 69p) were always 
B&W. 
The 2000-series were released in full color. Later issues had a different design 
where the virgins were left on a green background. We are only going to review 
the releases with one of these designs.
Note that the numbering is for the English releases. Most other countries have a 
different numbering. 
We have encountered a lot of variaties. We only are going to state the releases. 
In the last column there is a place for remarks.
